They Are Ballers, Not Barbies!

Heyyyyyy Baller Moms (waving)! Can we talk? Basketball season is winding down. No more Nike elite socks in pink, red, orange, yellow, blue, green, purple, brown, black, and white. Oops, I forgot about neon orange, neon yellow, stars and stripes, army fatigue, polka dot, checker board, blah, blah, blah, blah. No more headbands, wristbands, and arm bands. Bye Bye Lebrons, KDs, Melo’s, and Jordans. Woo hoo! You can FINALLY save for that dream trip you always wanted to take and buy those stilettos that have been eluding you for months. Right? NOW HOLD UP…WAIT A MINUTE. Football season is upon us. The uniform is basic. You got your shoulder pads, knee pads, rib pads, elbow pads, thigh pads, back pads and butt pads (um, the football kind). You got your helmets, cleats, and mouthpiece. But we have to admit, SOME of us Baller Moms…hutchooERIKA, bless you…Some of us Baller Moms get carried away with the accessorizing. Um, not accessorizing yourself, accessorizing your baller! Does your baller really need that hand warmer when he’s playing FLAG football at the age of 4? Does your baller have to have the mouthpiece in the matching uniform color? Guilty (right hand raised in the air). Do the cleats have to have color swatches that you can switch out? Is it very necessary for your baller to have that rag thing, hanging off the side of the uniform? What IS that by the way? Are the gloves a must have at the middle linebacker position? And, what’s up with the scully and head scarfs underneath the helmets? Just a second…Is that baller’s hair coifed? Aw, but they look so cute…like little NFL players (dropping a tear). But, does a baller really have to look good to play great? I’m just asking because it’s tax free weekend somewhere and somebody is having a sale on under armor in royal blue and/or gold. Can’t miss that. Um, don’t judge me.
